North Elm was fortunate to partner with Circa Living on the expansion of their Edmonton retail space. This new construction design build project featured the development of both the main and second floor showroom and design centre. The project boasts some high impact features in the custom millwork, unique lighting and overall aesthetic.
With all our Design Build projects, we take pride in pairing and partnering with the right collaborative project team, based on the client need, and designer experience. For this project, we collaborated with the talented team at CK Design.
Having partnered with Hillberg & Berk on some previous projects, we’re thrilled to share this renovation of their Edmonton Southgate retail store. Working to see the design vision of KaBeN Design come to life, the renovation featured updated paint, flooring, lighting, tile work, millwork and display cases.
We quarterbacked the construction of Padmanadi’s second restaurant space in Edmonton, designed by Maltby & Prins Architects and All Told. One of the most popular and well-known vegan restaurants in Edmonton, this highly anticipated expansion is located on the main floor of the brand new Canada Cancer Care building on Edmonton’s southside.
Another repeat customer, Tryst decided to open their amazing space in the heart of St. Albert. We worked hard with them to create a special place to share their distinct menu of small plates and wines, while elevating their restaurant to the next level. Included in the build was a rebuilt bar, kitchen, washrooms and dining area. The community and togetherness of this space really reflected our own values as a company. The client had a strong eye for design and was able to share the vision of what they wanted from the very beginning.
North Elm partnered with Econolube to expand their Spruce Grove, Alberta facility with a 4,800 sq. ft. new build. The project features an eco-friendly heating system that uses recycled vehicle oil, advanced fluid and air distribution systems, and a dedicated ADAS Calibration bay for this modern automotive space.
We recently completed a ground up Multi-Family development in Fort Saskatchewan’s downtown core. The project is a 2 storey infill building featuring 8, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suites. As a purpose built revenue generating rental, we worked with the owner and Architect to value engineer and complete the project, targeted towards the appropriate audience.
North Elm recently worked with our friends at Aspen Properties to white box and refresh two suites in their Edmonton downtown Bell Tower Property. For both projects, we upcycled a variety of materials, cabinetry, glass, and doors diverting them from the landfill. The finished spaces feature stunning views of the Edmonton Skyline, are bright & open and ready for new tenants to move in!
North Elm was thrilled to work and partner with Jacek Chocolate Couture on this new Edmonton Crestwood location. As the second build that we’ve done for Jacek, the retail space provides a nod to their original Sherwood Park store, while also providing a more modern, minimalistic, and open shopping experience.
North Elm Construction is excited to present a transformative renovation project for You & Eye Optical’s South Edmonton retail store. With a focus on functionality and aesthetics, our team worked with the owner to reimagine the space and create a more modern and inviting atmosphere. Through expert craftsmanship and unique design elements, we aimed to enhance the customer experience while matching the brand’s new presence.
North Elm had the pleasure of working with both OEB Corporate and a local Edmonton ownership group to bring this South Edmonton restaurant to life. With a bold vision and design, the finished space is a bright, welcoming, and impactful spot for friends and families to connect over great food!
We recently had the opportunity to work with Alberta Environmental Rubber Products to renovate their old lunch room to a more modern office space for their operations team. Providing a cool industrial look, the space features a blend of wood, brick, concrete, and metal products throughout. As a value engineered project, the build turned out fantastic providing a much brighter and functional space for the client.
We’re so honoured to have had the opportunity to complete this brand new build for Gospel Grace Church in Sherwood Park. As a Design Build project, we worked along side the talented team at L7 Architecture to design and build a modern, open, functional, and unique space for the church. With an open concept layout, the space is able to work well for multiple community purposes and gatherings as needed. The build incorporates a mix of modern flooring, architectural warm woods, glass features, and a modular coffee bar to complete the space.
North Elm was honoured to be chosen by conscious-luxury brand Poppy Barley for the construction of their flagship retail store. Like them, we value ethics, craftsmanship and quality. This was our second project with Poppy Barley and our fourth collaboration with designer Kaben Design Group, who designed the space. Located within Southgate Centre mall in Edmonton, this store’s dynamic entryway and striking colour palette both stands out, and draws customers in.
Collaborating with the property owner and tenant on this project, North Elm worked to make some fairly significant changes and renovations to this 24,000 SqFt building in order to work effectively for iPull-uPull. Our involvement included exterior updates, structural changes, the build out of various new offices, and overall renovations to both existing office and shop space.
We worked with the designer, Keith Hlewka of Kaben Design in Calgary to create a space that showcased the luxury of Jacek Chocolate through beautiful product displays and shop ambiance. Attention to detail was key to creating a feeling of modern luxury: polished concrete floors, white concrete countertops, clear-stained cedar ceilings, American clay and limestone walls, an overhead door to separate spaces, cedar screens over the windows and stairwell—the list goes on! The entire project took about 11 weeks of hard work to transform the 1600 square feet space, but we think it was worth it.
We are very proud to have partnered in the construction of the first retail boutique for both Pura Botanicals and So Pretty Cara Cotter. This storefront and interior is designed and crafted with simple luxury in mind, showcasing both owner’s products from every angle, and representing how well both companies work with each other. Pura Botanicals and So Pretty Cara Cotter is located in the revitalized 124th Street area in Edmonton, and offers natural skincare and beauty products, as well as women’s jewelry and accessories.
We worked again with Poppy Barley to build out a new head office for their local business. This office space was to house their staff and serve as a warehouse for all new products. Consisting of 6000 sq. ft of space, this space used to be part of the old Edmonton food bank and was converted to office space. Complete with tall ceilings, exposed wood beams and large windows to let in the light, general staff work area, work pods, photo studio, kitchen, staff lounge area and more. It’s the perfect work space and a great area for hosting events. Design for the project was done by Keith Helewka of KaBeN Design.
It doesn’t get any better than being able to build the office for an Architecture Firm. The firm in this case was HCMA. This project, located in the heart of downtown Edmonton, is a perfect space for design and ideas to come together. This 2000 sq. ft. space was designed to be simple yet with great flexibility. It had room for 16 to work in, with curtained walls that could be used to separate the area, if need be. We are excited to watch how HCMA is going to help elevate the architecture industry here in Edmonton and beyond.
Originally a storage barn for fertilizer, this building has been retrofitted into a compact, 2400 sq ft upper-scale gym facility. Corrugated steel adds a unique touch to an otherwise understated space.
This was one of our first projects. We essentially just started building what the client asked for. Back in those days we didn’t think too much about permits or engineering, or designers. We met once or twice, then started to build.
